Frequently Asked Questions
What is the breakdown of each class? What activities will we be doing?
Our classes typically run for one hour. We start with a general warm up and a game followed by a bit of mobility work and then stretching. We then go into the bulk of our training which is usually pad work in pairs, sparring or self-defence. Typically, we then finish on a few rounds of a hard physical or basic conditioning for adults or another game for some our kids.
Where can I buy the training gear like gloves, headgaurds and uniform etc?
You can buy all the equipment you need direct from us. Once we know your sizes we can make an order and kit you out!
How many calories can I burn in training?
You can burn between 500 and 1000 calories in one of our adult training sessions depending on the intensity of your training.
Do you organise gradings? How do I become a black belt?
We do organise our own grading system. We have four primary colour grades breaking down into ten individual grades. Most of these grades are indicated by a black tip. The four primary colour grades are white at beginner, green for intermediate, brown for advanced and black for master. Typically, it would take eight to ten years to become black belt depending on your ability and how often you train per week. Grading is run twice a year. One is in December and the other one is in June.
Do you have to be fit or experienced to join?
No. If you are healthy, complete beginners are always welcome.
What gear will I need to bring to class? What should I wear?
All you need for your first class is comfy clothes to move around in and some water to keep you hydrated.
How do I pay for classes?
You can pay per month or per class in cash in an envelope or by direct debit to your instructor.
Is there insurance that needs to be paid?
Yes, there is insurance. We go under “kickboxing Ireland” insurance planned package. There is a three week grace period for any students to find their feet in training and decide if they like it. After that every student that continues to train needs to pay for the insurance and KBI membership with the form filled out provided by your instructor.
Do you run the classes right through the year?
Yes, we do. However, we usually take a three week break at Christmas, a one week break at Easter time and a three week break in August.
Do you run summer camps for kids?
Yes we do.
